Why Domestic Violence Survivor Stories Matter
There was a time when I didn’t know if I would ever feel safe or whole again. Domestic violence left deep wounds in my life. Some were visible, but many stayed hidden. Even though I loved the Lord, I often wondered where He was in the middle of my pain. Looking back now, I see how faithfully He carried me.
He never let go of me, and He used His Word, prayer, and the stories of other survivors to remind me that healing is possible.
Books and testimonies became lifelines for me. They whispered, “You’re not alone,” when shame and fear tried to silence me. Today, I write and share my story because I want other women to know what I have discovered firsthand: God is near to the brokenhearted, and He can bring beauty from even the darkest seasons.
The Power of Faith in Healing
Trauma doesn’t just affect your body. It touches your heart, your mind, and the way you see yourself. When someone you trusted uses control, anger, or violence, it can shatter your sense of worth and safety. I’ve walked that road.
However, I’ve also found that, when everything else feels broken, God remains steady. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Those words became my anchor when I had no strength for anything else.
Books about hope and faith, especially those grounded in scripture, have been part of my own healing. They helped me process my pain and gave me language for prayers I couldn’t find on my own. My prayer is that the books I’ve written can serve the same purpose for someone else.
- She Stands: In She Stands, I wanted to show how hidden pain can look inside a home and a heart. Nina’s world starts to crumble when her once-loving husband becomes jealous and angry. At the same time, she faces toxicity at work and begins to sense danger in her quiet town. Nina’s story reflects the real, messy struggles many women face behind closed doors. It’s one of my domestic abuse books that blends suspense with spiritual depth, showing how God gives courage in the darkest hours.
- My Dear Rosa Jean: My Dear Rosa Jean is deeply personal for me because it mirrors so much of my own experience. In it, Rosa Jean endured childhood abuse and carried that pain into an abusive marriage. Her life felt shattered, as though she had been thrown into a pit. But through the patient support of Aunt Grace and the gentle call of God’s love, Rosa Jean begins a journey toward healing. This book speaks directly to women who have endured family violence and are wondering if joy could ever return. It honors the strength of survivors and gently invites readers to believe in the possibility of recovery and a new life. If you’re looking for books about family violence that point to hope, this story is for you.
- A New Song Rises Up! Sharing Struggles Toward Salvation: This book is my own testimony. In A New Song Rises Up!, I write about surviving domestic violence, wrestling with questions about God’s love, and finding His faithfulness anyway. I share details of my journey as a cautionary tale but also as a living witness to His rescue. This book is filled with scripture, honesty, and encouragement for anyone searching for answers and strength. Of all my domestic violence survivor stories, this one feels like a song of victory to me. It’s for women who feel unseen, unheard, or unsure if God is near. My heart’s desire is that they would see through my story that He is close, and that turning to Him opens the door to healing and new beginnings.
Survivor Stories Bring Hope
Reading another woman’s story doesn’t fix everything, but it may make you feel less isolated. When I read domestic violence books and other survivors’ testimonies early in my healing, I found pieces of my own heart in their words. It was like having a quiet companion walking alongside me. That’s what I hope my books do for others.
If you’re carrying heavy memories, take comfort in knowing that God sees every tear. Your past doesn’t disqualify you from His love. You are still His precious treasure, His work of art. If your heart feels tired or if you’re looking for a sign that healing is possible, let me gently say this: you are not forgotten. God sees you. He loves you. And there is hope.
I invite you to explore my full collection of books. Consider sharing one with a friend who might need encouragement or donating a copy to a local shelter. Sometimes one book, one testimony, or one verse can plant the seed of hope in someone else’s life.
Your courage to keep seeking Him shows more strength than you realize. Healing is not out of reach. With each small step toward God, you’ll find He’s already reaching back to you.
