Do Dogs Watch TV? Mine Are Hooked on Lassie
Do dogs watch TV? Mine certainly do, and lately, Lassie has become quite the event in our house!
My pups have recently discovered that the television is full of interesting sights and sounds. When a dog appears on the screen, they perk up as though a new friend has entered the room. Sometimes they get so excited that I stay close by. I wouldn’t put it past one of them to climb onto a crate for a better view or try to leap toward the TV!
The little Yorkipoos don’t even need to be in the same room to join in. They can see the television from their area in the kitchen, and when something catches their attention, up they jump. Everyone wants to know what Lassie is doing.
TV Time Calls for Parental Supervision
I’ve learned that watching TV with my dogs requires a little parental supervision. If a scene seems like it might get them too worked up, I change the channel. They love an adventure, but I prefer to keep the excitement on the screen!
It makes me laugh to see how invested they’ve become. I write about the Pack of Poo traveling to exciting places and finding themselves in all sorts of situations, yet the real dogs can make an ordinary afternoon at home feel like a story of its own.
Their everyday adventures are also part of The Exciting Lives of Cupcake and Reggie & Siblings series. I’m planning to include their newfound love of TV, along with some of their other recent antics, in book four, which I hope to publish next year.
I’ve shared some photos of my little TV audience so you can see for yourself. Does your dog watch TV, too? Tell me what catches their attention!
If you’d like to get to know the pups beyond the living room, you can follow their adventures in my Pack of Poo and The Exciting Lives of Cupcake and Reggie & Siblings books. You’ll find the puppy adventures and other children’s books on KarenRLacy.com.
