What Do You Concentrate On?

What do you concentrate on?

We have so much to be thankful for as we approach Thanksgiving, including our loved ones, jobs, and health… But our enemies – especially recently, with the horrific attacks in France – want us to concentrate on fear!

I am impressed with a recent article (posted 11/22/2015) I read in the Richmond Times Dispatch, “Fear of the Future” by Rick McDaniel.

McDaniel compared a life of being fear-focused vs. faith-focused. He states, “Fear creates spiritual amnesia where we don’t remember all the good. We get so focused on the tragedy we have amnesia about the fact God has provided and taken care of us time and time again…”

What does the Bible say about fear? In Isaiah 41:10 {KJV}, we’re told

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

I encourage readers to find McDaniel’s article – it’s a great reminder that we need to be busy counting our blessings!

For this Thanksgiving, I encourage you to be faith-focused, and to think on:

 “…whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” {Philippians 4:8, KJV}
